Prime Pumpkin Time

So it was an... interesting Halloween this year, to say the least, but we made a weekend of it, that's for sure.

Friday night we did cousin pumpkin carving night with Eli and Sophie, huge success.

Then Saturday we hit up a couple Halloween parties. I got Pax ready for the Ninja reveal...

And we were on our way.

By the way, I was an archer. Don't mistake me for Robin Hood. And please tell everyone else so they stop asking me if I'm Robin Hood.

And it's a pretty good thing we got that picture of the three of us together dressed up, because that would be the last time we were dressed up for Halloween festivities.

Monday came with a party at Mabel's school...

And a napping Ninja (wait, do ninjas nap? I really don't think ninjas nap).

And I am not pictured because, well, I spent the afternoon and evening throwing up and laying down. I managed to rally a little bit and sit on the porch with dad passing out candy while Mom, Mae and Pax trick-or-treated with Ana and Sid. Oh, and check out Mae's face paint. Mom did that. Wish I had a better close-up because it was so good. When Mae's mouth was closed she totally had the side tongue wagging down and to the side.

All in all we'll look to avoid the stomach flu when this puppy comes around next year.

Twick o Tweat

That's how Pax puts it, thought it was an appropriate title. So let's get right to it.

Geared up for Halloween by spending about four and a half hours on my haunted house drawing, complete with four pieces of paper taped together.

And then it really got going on the big day. I know you're going to be really really surprised, but I wanted to go as Jonathon Toews this year. I actually wanted to go as Patrick Kane but dad said something about how you have to treat women nicely or something so we pivoted and went with Toewser. With a little help from mom and dad's friends and their hockey gear, we really knocked this one out of the park.

And not surprisingly Mae waffled back and forth about 751 times before landing on a raccoon, but I gotta say it was a really good choice because she made a pretty darn cute one.

So we headed out to Nana's because there was only one group we wanted to spend Halloween with - COUSINS!!! It was a mess of a rainy day so our strategy was to get all dressed up and then wait for some holes in the rain, then we'd sprint out the door to GET CANDY! First ones out there were our boys Eli and Isaiah. Eli made for an awesome ninja and Isaiah was supposed to be a magician but once he added some fake glasses he found at Nana's he was starting to get called Harry Potter, so as is the case with Zaya, he just rolled with it.

And without further ado, there's Pax in his construction worker outfit. What was significantly better than his actual costume was the fact that you could keep asking him what he was and listen to him say the word "construction." Classic Pax.

So after a couple rounds of GETTING CANDY and then taking a break, our next wave of cousins came so we hit the streets again with Sophie and Luke.

Oh, and there was a quick outfit change as well. As you can see, Eli took on the Harry Potter costume for trick or treating round 2 and Isaiah is that black blob standing next to Luke, who is the Incredible Notre Dame Hulk or something like that.

Okay, other big Halloween news is that we got to meet Nana's new puppy that she got earlier that week. Her name is Lily and she is so stinking cute it's not even funny.

And yet, in true Mabel fashion, she was really worried more about not letting Buddy feel neglected so she stayed close to her best buddy, Buddy.

Even brought him with for trick or treating.

At the end of a long day, Lily fell asleep right where I was hoping she would. On the way home from Nana's Mae and I proclaimed it the best Halloween ever.

Oh, and not to be outdone, say hello to the center forward (Mom) and right midfielder (Dad) of the Croatian national soccer team.  HRVATSKA!

Oh, and one more thing for this post, which is not necessarily related to Halloween or costumes. Nana was making a couple cakes and decorating them and Pax was sitting up at the table and wanted to try, so he took a stab at decorating the cake and here's how it looked. Go Pax! Squeeze that cake frosting dispenser with all your might, buddy!

More February Fun

So here's a little shake and bake of what we've been up to...

Mom made Valentine's Day a lot of fun making us heart shaped pizzas and heart shaped cookies.

Mae has been busy dressing up in last year's Halloween costume and taking lots of car naps.

Pax helped rake the aisles of Home Depot last week and then he got into this Poonchky or whatever you call them.

And then we did a homemade photo booth, complete with fun faces at the end!

The Forgotten Pumpkin Post

So October was busy, real busy, but that's no excuse for forgetting to show you our Halloween Pumpkins.

Things started out great. We finished our pumpkins and they were looking amazing.

That one's mine...

and that one's Mae's, smiling, of course,

So then the pumpkins had some camera time on their own...

And then we took them outside to light them and show them off in the dark...

And then things went a little sideways. I'm not sure exactly what happened but rays of light started shooting out of the pumpkins into the deep night sky and Mae got all possessed and well, I guess that's what happens when you're talking about a holiday called Devil's Night.

Bat Girl Strikes Again

So Halloween was fun this year. We had a really big party at school that mom came to and then we had a parade and got to walk around and show other classrooms our costumes. Here's me with my bestie, Nadia.

Then we went out to Nana's and I painted a mask on my face and got serious about trick or treating. My cousin Sophie was a really spooky looking witch and Eli was, well, a fox.

And when it comes to jaguars, I got to hang with the most loveable jaguar of them all, Miss Mae.

Actually, Halloween kicked off a couple weeks ago. See, we were going to Jake's house and our moms and since Mae and I had just gotten our costumes we really wanted to wear them, so our moms and dads said what the heck and we all wore them.

And you should probably be careful when the Dark Knight and Batgirl are around.

Since we were dressed up we decided to hit up the local pumpkin patch and a playground by Jake's house, which was a lot of fun.

And these two were dressed up as Mom and Pax, best costumes ever.
