Marty or Mabel?

So how cute is this little bugaboo? Nevermind the fact that she's dressed in an outfit that makes her look like a boy. What I'm sure is really catching your eye is that beautiful smile and that sweet fro.

Chip and ScottsDale: Part I

So we got back from Phoenix and, man, what a great trip. Nana has a lot of really good photos on her camera that my editor needs to download onto our computer (let's go, editor, get on it) but we had a few on ours that were worthwhile, so here's Part I.

The first highlight is of Reggie. We had a ground floor room with a pond right outside our patio, so I spent a lot of my down time out there meeting the local animals. You know, frogs, bugs, and most importantly, ducks. This is Reggie, we got pretty tight, played some duck, duck, goose with his buddies and what not...

He might've liked me because I had a lot of crackers. What was weird, though, is that I had duck crackers and he kept eating them, which would be like us eating cookies in the shapes of humans. See, I told you, Reggie was weird, but he was also pretty cool, like in a Cookie Monster sort of way.

Then, the sun went down and the place went a little bonkers. They had this band in (I swear it was one of the dudes from Los Lobos) and they rocked out the bar area...

And I rocked it right back. Notice the dance floor is empty? That's just straight intimidation.

Even went after the high notes... "YEEEEAAAAAHHHHZZZZAAAAYYYYAAAAAHHHH!"

Readers: If you are not prepared for this last dance move, please go back to surfing the web site IamBoring.com cuz on this page, folks, we bring the heat.

James Brown gettin HOT in the hot tub! Break it down!

Lots more pictures to come once my editor gets his act together, but all in all, a great trip.

All Aboard

We're off to Phoenix on vacation for a few days. Thought I'd leave you with a slice of Mabel pizza with a slight mohawk on top, whatever that means.

World Cup 2010

So I had my first practice with the US National Team to prepare for this year's World Cup in South Africa.

When I got there, Coach asked what number I wanted to wear. I remembered back in the 2006 World Cup in Germany I wore the number of a certain famous Chicago basketball player - #23.

This time around I pulled a LeBron James. As LeBron said so eloquently, "#23 should be retired forever." So out of respect, I'm following King James' lead and I went with #6.
Our first practice went pretty well. DeMarcus Beasley and I got to catch up...
I did some drills...

Even had a few laughs when Clint Dempsey accidentally hit Coach Bradley in the back of the head with a volley...
And then it was on to the photo shoot for my official 2010 Fleer Soccer Card.

Spring Training

So not sure if you guys know this, but a couple weeks ago position players reported to Spring Training. Why is that relevant? Well, if you live in this house, it means some baseball is about to break out somewhere, and our own little Spring Training broke out in our garage recently.

First, I got a lesson from Ozzie Guillen (well, not really, he's just my Dad but whatever). So here's how you bat from the right side.
And then he spent 42 minutes talking to me about the value of being a switch hitter so we took a look at it from the left side.
Things were going a little below fantastic in terms of me actually making contact with the ball so I told Dad I had seen this movie once where this little green guy talked about using the "force" or some malarkey, so I gave it my best shot.
As you can see, it didn't go too well, but all in all we had a great time...

That was until Dad threw some high inside heat and I didn't take to it very well. So I did what any lovable little daughter in my situation would do... I charged him with the bat. Let's just say I don't think Dad is going to pitch me inside any longer.

One Month Mabel

Yep, you guessed, it's time to break out Charlie the Bear and get those monthly photos going. Mabel turned one month the other day and we got so pumped we plopped her in the rocker and busted out the camera.

And as you can see, Mabel is quite stoked herself.

Um, Mabel? Mae? We're over this way.
Okay, great (well, good, but whatever) it's nice to have you back. Try to stay with us.
Um, outstanding job, you look really excited, let's do it again sometime.

Oh, and just the other day I made up this new word, it's called a "flashback." Check it out - this is yours truly with the old Chuckster exactly 24 months ago.

Oh, and one more funny thing. Everywhere we go when people see Mabel they say something like, "Oh gosh, look at her hair, it looks just like her dad's." and then they laugh. Dad laughs, too, but I'm pretty sure he's not laughing on the inside.

She might have one-upped me with the highlights, but let's be serious here folks, Mabel's 'do just has no idea where to go next.

Big Girl Bed

So check this out. See that big thing in the background? Yep Mom and Dad got me a big girl bed and I absolutely love it.
It's a little bit of a struggle once in a while to get into it...
But once I'm in it I'm golden, and I have a whole bunch of my friends in it with me.

Oh, and this is essentially what happens when you leave me alone in my room for 45 minutes.

CLICK HERE for some updated pics of Mabel in the Bjorn with Dad, a couple shots of me with my new swimsuits gettin ready for vacation in Phoenix and a trip to the Shedd with Jake.
