Easter, Part II

So out to Nana's we went on Easter and had a fantastic day.

Mae had herself a whole bunch of fun on the deck.

This pretty much sums up the essence of Mabel's little life... backwards.

And she took a breather every so often with her best buddy, Buddy.

I took a few swings at it and as I rounded second base during my home run trot I just screamed, "FEMINISM!!" whatever the heck that meant.

Had ourselves an egg hunt. Buddy thought he had this one hid but I showed him a cupcake and he moved his head... jackpot, pink egg!
Eli apparently thought our egg hunt was dangerous enough that he should keep his helmet on.

Even Mae got into the egg-finding mission.

And then we had a nice Easter dinner. As you can see here, Eli was not crazy about the fact that he had to sit with three girls, add to it that we were all on one side of the table and that made him even more aggravated. He got over it when he found out we were having sweet potatoes... man, that dude loves sweet potatoes.

Easter, Part I

So this will be the first of a two-part series because, well, the Easter Bunny deserves such things.

As you know, last week was Easter and there was prepping for Easter that had to be done, so we busted out the eggs and the colors and had at it.

Are you ready?

Now, I am an old pro at this but Mae, well, let me explain. It all started out innocently enough, kind of a "hey, what's this thing?" she had going on.

Then she decided, "Wait a minute, if I just squeeze it as hard as I possibly can..." and nothing really happened.

So Mom busted out the colors for Mae and she was, let's just say, intrigued.

But not that intrigued because after a few seconds she decided the best idea was to just eat it.

And then... the scene of the crime. All in all, a success for Mae's first egg coloring.

Back to the old pro, as you can see I'm giving it the old half-in-half-out here, and then I'm gonna flip it so we've got ourselves a two-toned egg.

I can also work double fisted. An egg in one hand while seamlessly working on another.

Quick pic with Mom, who you may or may not know is basically in the egg-coloring Hall of Fame.

Stay tuned for Part II - Easter Sunday

Overachiever!

So Mae hears me talking about the Pull-Up Fairy and how I'm all potty-trained now and next thing I know I turn around to see her pulling this malarkey!

FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!

Okay, so you all remember my run-in a couple years ago with the police and fire department when Daddio locked me in the car, right? Well, we were at it again, and this time Nana was in the middle of it.

So I spent the day at Nana's with Mabel, Eli, Isaiah, Nana and Papa. After work, Dad came to pick me up and while we were getting packed up to leave the grown-ups started smelling something burning, like really burning. So they took us kids outside and had us stay on the front lawn. After a few minutes of not being able to find it, Nana called 911 to get the fire department over.
And up the street they came. It was awesome - fire engines, really loud sirens and flashing lights, a bunch of dudes carrying axes running into Nana's house...

Well, after a few minutes of deliberation one of the guys spotted the culprit - a package of new socks up in the chandelier bowl above the dining room table, with the new packaging set up against the light bulb and burning it, giving off the bad burning smell.

So the firemen all laugh and Nana laughs and they wonder how those got up there and Nana laughs and blames it on us kids and hee hee ha ha, whatever whatever.

Well, this whole time I'm looking around at Eli and Isaiah and we're thinking, "Wait a minute, we didn't throw those socks up there, that's ludicrous."

Well, after the firemen leave, Nana can't stop laughing and when we finally figure out why she's laughing, she tell us that she was the one that threw them up there. She was trying to throw them to the basement door and well, let's just say good thing Nana is not a major league pitcher... they landed up in the light and she told herself she would need to remember to get them outta there and, well, we all now know that didn't happen.

So there you have it - a pretty eventful evening at Nana's, here are the pics to prove it.

Pull-Up Fairy

Okay, here's the deal, you're like, "Fin, why would you start a post with a picture of an empty basket and a picture of, well, nothing?"

Here's why. I've been going on the big girl potty for quite some time now, but I've still been wearing pull-ups at night and during my naps. And mom and dad have told me that when I'm ready, let them know and we'll call the Pull-Up Fairy and she'll come and take all my pull-ups.

So the other night before I went to bed I told them I think it's time we call the Pull-Up Fairy. So dad called her and let her know we were ready for her. Then we went upstairs and left our deck door open just a little bit so the Pull-Up Fairy could get in and come into my room and take my pull-ups while I was sleeping in my big girl underwear.

AND SHE DID!

I woke up the next morning (bright and early at 5:00am) and was so excited I couldn't even go back to sleep.

Hence the photos of an empty basket and, well, nothing.

Next call is to the Binky Fairy. We actually called her the other night before bed but then I decided I wasn't going to have her come after all so I told Dad to call her back and let her know maybe another night.

Finley? You there, Finley?

Yes, I'm here, but our Internet is not, which is why I took the #12 bus down to Jefferson St., got off, took the #6 bus down Jefferson, and then got off and walked 7 blocks to Dad's work so that I could write this post.

I'm not sure when we'll be back online, things aren't going well from our router perspective, but I will be back, I promise.

In the meantime - here's what's up:

1. The weather is breaking, which means we're at the park a lot more, which means I'm meeting park friends in my neighborhood.

2. We went to the zoo yesterday and the rhinoceros also asked me why I haven't had any blog posts in almost three weeks.

3. Mae is saying all kinds of words - cheese, booze (not that kind, short for blueberries), banana. Yes, mostly food related, that's how we roll in our house.

4. My dance class is going awesome, Nana got me a dance bag to put my shoes in, and my recital is coming up in about five weeks.

5. I'm still killing it in the reading department and have started in on addition and subtraction.

6. I miss all my fans and promise you I'll be back quickly... or as quickly as Mom can figure out our router problem (Lord knows Dad will be of no help).
