Well, it was back to school a couple weeks ago. But before we did that, we kind of rocked out the St. Helen Carnival. And by rocked out, I mean Dad got up on stage with his friends - The Chris's - and brought all my friends and me on stage, and we sang Twenty One Pilots "House of Gold."
And then people started getting crazy and coloring their hair.
And this is Pax and his best friend Vivvy. They have been friends for a couple years now, and now they are in the same preschool class. They play together every day, pretty exclusively, and had an amazing time at the carnival riding all the rides together for hours on end.
Then it was time for the first day of school.school. The day started with Hutch waking me.
It was old hat for me. Mae finally went into school without crying, after 2.5 years of going to St. Helen. And Pax was the big story as he entered his first day of school ever.
Zero hesitation. Off he went...
Into class. No issues. Just a big "goodbye mom and dad" and a kiss and he was off to spend his day with Miss Eva. Even gets a nice big fat nap in every day.
But here was the big money shot for the first day. School Selfie!

1st Day of School 2015
I'm a little late with this post but the first day of school went off without a hitch. Dad came back upstairs that morning to find me doing Mae's hair for her first day of Kindergarten.
And then we shuffled off to school, but not before we could grab some first day of school pictures.
And as you can see above, Pax managed to keep his clothes on. Here's a look and a laugh ack at last year when Pax got out of the sink from a bath and had a streaking party right through our 2014 first day of school pictures.

A Buzzworthy Bee
So this post only has one picture but it's a pretty important one, or so says my photo editor.
Last week was our class Spelling Bee. We had 210 words to study and I did a little studying with Nana and quite a bit of studying with Mom and when the big day came I felt ready.
So after the other 22 kids in my class went down on words like "float," "reindeer," "knight," and so on and so forth, it was down to Isabelle and me.
And the final word, as Ms. McElroy stated so clearly, was "Christmas." Isabelle had first shot at it and she, unfortunately, got it wrong. So now it was up to me. If I could spell "Christmas" then I'd be the Spelling Bee champ of First Grade.
"Christmas" - "C.H.R.I.S.T.M.A.S." And that, my friends was that. So here's me with the winning Spelling Bee word, a buzz worthy little bee, if I may say so myself.
And then, two nights later I found this old Santa hat under my bed and, appropriately, spent the evening in it for no reason at all really.

Back to School 2014
So it was back to school the other day, which turned out to be fantastic. After a long and fun summer, I was ready to get back to my old stomping grounds.
After a good breakfast we got the two school birds posing for some pictures.

It was Mae's first day after dropping out of preschool last year. And she not only had a good first day but she had a great first week. I think the little bird is ready.
And then, after basically pouring a bowl of oatmeal down the front of his diaper while trying to eat it and then taking a bath in the kitchen sink, well, we got photobombed by a streaker.
After we got a diaper on the little lad he wanted to say cheese for the camera.
Got to school and low and behold I saw about 15 kids from Ms. Matus's class last year who were in my class again...
Including my bestie, Nadia. Yep, this is gonna be a good school year.

Bat Girl Strikes Again
So Halloween was fun this year. We had a really big party at school that mom came to and then we had a parade and got to walk around and show other classrooms our costumes. Here's me with my bestie, Nadia.
Then we went out to Nana's and I painted a mask on my face and got serious about trick or treating. My cousin Sophie was a really spooky looking witch and Eli was, well, a fox.
And when it comes to jaguars, I got to hang with the most loveable jaguar of them all, Miss Mae.
And you should probably be careful when the Dark Knight and Batgirl are around.

Actually, Halloween kicked off a couple weeks ago. See, we were going to Jake's house and our moms and since Mae and I had just gotten our costumes we really wanted to wear them, so our moms and dads said what the heck and we all wore them.

Since we were dressed up we decided to hit up the local pumpkin patch and a playground by Jake's house, which was a lot of fun.
And these two were dressed up as Mom and Pax, best costumes ever.

School Days
Okay B&Gs (that's Boys & Girls), so first day of school today. Not a huge ordeal for me, I'm kind of an old pro. Got into class to find 4-5 of my best friends in the same Kindergarten class, so we're running the place over there.
Not only that but as you can see I'm rocking a pretty sweet school uni.
Mae was rocking her first day as well. First a few pics at home with The Kid...
And then it was off to school.
Little different story for Mae as it was literally her first day of school, like ever, but luckily she has the same teachers I had last year and in the same room I was so after Day 1 she's probably already the Mayor of that joint.
She even tried to call me on my cell phone from her classroom but I don't have a cell phone so that obviously didn't work, so she probably called Buddy after that.

Earth Day Project, 2013
So I had my first school project and it was for an Earth Day contest that I wanted to enter. After dad mumbled something about "I've done enough school projects in my life" Mom saved the day with her school spirit (and nerdy love for school projects).
So I started with a clean green slate and began going to work on making some butterflies and bees and bugs out of toilet paper rolls and construction paper.
Then I took the paper and began drawing some stuff and making a title for my project. The title was the only thing Mom helped me with, the rest was straight from my noggin.
Decided I needed a caterpillar to finish it off.
And... VOILA!
So that was that, I'll find out next week if I won or not.
And then Mae's competitive juices started flowing and she was all "I'm going to enter the contest" and I was all "but you can't you're not even in school yet" and she was all "Yuh-huh. I'm in the 6th grade, fool" and I was all "let's go, right now, fisticuffs." That last part didn't really happen, but Mae did really make her own project (I told her it was really good but it was nowhere near as good as mine).
