The Forgotten Pumpkin Post

So October was busy, real busy, but that's no excuse for forgetting to show you our Halloween Pumpkins.

Things started out great. We finished our pumpkins and they were looking amazing.

That one's mine...

and that one's Mae's, smiling, of course,

So then the pumpkins had some camera time on their own...

And then we took them outside to light them and show them off in the dark...

And then things went a little sideways. I'm not sure exactly what happened but rays of light started shooting out of the pumpkins into the deep night sky and Mae got all possessed and well, I guess that's what happens when you're talking about a holiday called Devil's Night.

Devil's Night

So it is Halloween and oh man, what a great day. So great that I decided I'm wearing my costume again tomorrow.

I went with a raccoon outfit and grandma sewed my tail to the back of my yoga pants (no, I don't do yoga, just the type of my pants).  And Mae was going to be a nun, which woulda been just amazing, but she went with a witch instead.

After school we headed out for trick or treating with our cousins...

And then we went to Nana's so we could visit buddy. His costume was incredible, he went as a black labrador retriever; I mean, does that look authentic or what?!

Got a great picture with Nana and Grandma before we headed back out for trick or treating by Nana's house.

And then when we got home I went to bed while Mae divided up her candy.

Dude, don't even think about messing with her Tootsie Pops.

Spooked

So Devil's Night came and went and not much harm came with a couple of insects out and about trick or treating. We took to the burbs out by my cousins' houses - Mae as a ladybug and me as a butterfly. Oh, and costumes are a bit of a drag with winter coats on - I don't ever remember a ladybug wearing a jacket.

Mae got her first taste of strangers putting candy in your bag, and she dug it.

Luckily Isaiah was there to help her up and down the all the houses' stairs.
After some trick or treating by Eli's and Sophie's house we headed out to Nana's for the annual Halloween Sloppy Joe's dinner. Stopped along the way to put some headband jangles on Buddy, which I thought was pretty funny and he seemed to enjoy as well.

I know what you're thinking - wait, Finley, you were going to paint your face as a butterfly. Yep, I was, and then Stace and I decided to color this butterfly mask thing we found. But then, at the third stinking house, it was falling off my face and I fell down the stairs, so that was the end of the mask.

Back to Nana's - Buddy and Mae did their photo thing...

And then they did their bonding/hugging/love thing, which is exclusive to Buddy and Mae.

Did one more round of trick or treating by Nana's. Mae really had the hang of it this time. Just dug into the people's buckets 3, 4, even 5 times and stuffed candy into her bag. I mean, just look at little old Mae, who's gonna tell her to stop. She scored massive amounts of candy.

All in all, a very, very Happy Halloween (that's Nana and Eli with us, if you couldn't tell).
