Clean As A Whistle

So I went to get my haircut and-

Wait, Fin, you've already posted about getting your haircut, are you sure y-

Hey, hold it Mr. Narrator italicized font guy, check the name of this blog and slow your roll.

The reason this post is monumental (slight hyperbole there) is that after four haircuts and not getting my hair washed (the best part of a haircut, Dad says), I got the courage mustered up to clean my noggin before I got it cut.

That's Josie, the girl who cuts my hair. One of the sweeter (weirder) tattoos you'll see is owned by Josie - a pair of haircutting scissors, technically known as shears, runs from her right elbow all the way down to her hand. Maybe I'll just stick with crayons.

Anyway, suds...

Cut and dry...

And not only the softest, cleanest hair I've had in four years and four months, but a Tootsie Pop from Josie; not a bad evening at the hair salon.

Dad's Day

Father's Day started out pretty well with some DAD pancakes for breakfast.

Then it was time to give him his cards we made for him. Mae went first...

And Mae gave Dad one of her vintage Mabel Jane signature kisses for Father's Day.

Next up was me. First I gave him the cards I made him...

And then I gave him the gift I made him to wear all day, a pretty sweet necktie that I could've actually sold to Nordstroms to sell on their tie rack, but I decided to skip the easy money and instead give my Dad something he could wear on his special day.

Later, while everyone was getting ready to go to the pool, I drew pictures for him all over my arms and legs. Rainbows, sunshines. I even wrote FINLEY MABEL BEST FRIENDS.

We headed out to Nana's later in the day and got a couple more good shots in with dear old Dad.

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there.

H2O My Goodness

A little fun at the water fountain with Mae in the Circle Park out front.

You've Got A Friend In Me

Most people have a best friend... most people have a cousin... I'm lucky enough to have both of those things wrapped up in one.

Oh, and don't mind the yogurt on his face, he was doing it to make me laugh. Which reminds me, there really is no one, and I mean no one, that makes me laugh like Eli does.

Summer Fests

Not to be confused with Summer Fest in Milwaukee, this is the plural version, which is the multitude of summer festivals in Chicago.

A couple Saturdays ago was Division Fest. It started out with a long hike to the fest, so naturally, I went piggy back.

When we got there we got our faces painted - moi, a turtle, and Mae, an octopus. She wore this thing very very proudly.

We met up with our best friend Ana at the fest, too. That's when it got crazy. I got my hair colored - red, pink, blue and green...

Dad said I looked like Ani DiFranco. I thought he said Ana DiFranco and I was like, "Dad, that's not her last name," but apparently An DiFranco is someone entirely different.

And then we decided to start a cover band. First Ana rocked the drums while I shredded it on the strat (straight southpaw, I might add) and then we switched. Our agent says that versatility is what is going to get us signed to a label.

Wait a minute, Mr. Narrator, what are you talking about, did you say it's Friday?

IT'S FRIDAY, AAAGGGHHHHEEEEIIIII!!!!

Kiss someone.

Hug someone.

Dance your a*% off.

Look for something fun to do.

Apparently Mae can't believe it either.
