Chocolate Cake Day

Some people like chocolate cake. I am one of them. Eli is another. So when we were at Nana's and cake was served and Eli was looking for some, I made sure I had us both covered.

Even fed him by hand like a little doggy who comes to the table looking for scraps.

There were some other good pics taken that day, CLICK HERE to see them.

Zoo Days

So we took our first trip to the zoo this year, and it was as good as I had remembered it. We saw a bunch of animals, my favorite being the Sun Bear. Check this dude out, just chills like a 17-year-old girl at the beach on vacation trying to get tan.
Snagged a pic with Mom and Mae (though I think Mae was busy looking at Mom's shoes).
Then snagged a picture with Dad (just kidding, Dad... well, kind of).
(Side note: This is what happens when Mom grabs you a shirt from upstairs and Dad grabs your shorts from downstairs and they pack them separately and tell you you're gonna get dressed at the zoo. Thanks, guys, I spent the morning looking like a canary.)

Then it was carousel time. I saddled up on the tiger and Mae picked the panda bear...

Banana snack and time to head home.

Happy Father's Day

So look, I know this blog is all about me, but even I'm not so narcissistic to think that today is about me. So here's a pic of my Dad, on his day, with the Bell, Mabel Jane.

And to all you Dads out there, here's to you.

Rock 'n' Roll

So I'm upstairs playing by myself last weekend and I come across this amazing toy of Dad's called an eye patch or an eye pod or something like that. I put the things in my ears like I've seen Dad do, and I hear somebody who keeps referring to himself as Tupac. I'm not sure who this fella is but he says an awful lot of bad words... whoops, Dad says rap music is for grown-ups and skips to the next song.
Oh man, this one is great. You gotta check out "Hey Daddy, there's a dragon in the driveway"... hilarious.

The song changes again and and I never realized how touching Josh Groban tunes are, but it really hit me. I mean, give "You Raise Me Up" a listen - if that one doesn't put you close to tears you better check yourself to see if you have a soul.
Few days later I'm back at it, this time got the eye pod clipped onto my pants, just turning the dining room into my own personal dance floor.
Now I'm really feelin it. Back up, back up, I don't even need the headphones for this one - "Shot through the heart and you're to blame, darlin, you give love a bad name."

Happy Hairclip Day

We woke up this morning and decided today we would start a new holiday. So today, June 10, 2010, is the first ever Hairclip Day.

So if you see someone with a hairclip in, wish them a Happy Hairclip Day. And if you see someone with 5-6 hairclips in, maybe they like Hairclip Day as much as Mabel and I do.

The One-Upper

So I'm like, "Hey, Mabel - did you see my post where I sang that John Denver song? Wasn't that the awesomest thing you've ever seen?"

And she's like, "Finner, put this in your pipe and smoke it."

So I'm like, "You think you're the only one who knows how to play an instrument?"

And she's like, "First off, the trumpet was upside down, genius. And secondly, if you're gonna act like a clown with that fake trumpet and drum set, here's some circus music for ya."

So I roll up my sleeves and give her my I'm-about-to-punch-you-in-the-face look - "Mae, what the $&*% was that #@%^ you just pulled?"

And she's like, "Well, that first one was a song I wrote back when I was a regular at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Bar on Wednesday nights. That second one was a number I composed for Barnum and his brother Bailey... and now I'm about to take you to church, Mary Magdeline."

Slightly defeated, I fake a smile and pull out my last card. "Well, I bet you can't put a shirt over your head like this and look like a complete lunatic!"
She doesn't say one word ... just lets the ivory do the talking.

To which I respond, "YOU, MY FRIEND, ARE A ONE-UPPER!"
