Birthday Week... Interrupted

Well, you're probably wondering what happened to Birthday Week, it was going so well.

Leading into it everyone was having such a blast.

I was getting treated like it was my birthday week...

So the night of my actual birthday mom gets summoned out of town for work, but alas I still really wanted to go to Rosebud so Dad took me, Mae, Pax and my bestie Shea.

What is Mae wearing in that photo, you ask? I have no clue. Before she left she asked Dad to take a picture of her and we all thought when she came downstairs she was Olivia Newton John.

Anyway, I started not feeling well at Rosebud, so much so that I didn't even eat my spaghetti, so you knew something was wrong with me. We came home and did some cake and I tried to tough through it. Oh, and at this point Olivia is hating life and making a solid effort to sabotage my birthday with her version of nastiness.  (it's working)

Then we opened gifts. As you can see, Olivia recovered briefly and was stoked at the Shopkins Season 4 present I got from mom and dad...

And then there was a serious huddle around them.

And then, just like that, it all went to pieces. First I got sick, then Mae decided to come along with me the next day and we spent the next 8 days sicker than dogs. In the meantime, Mom came down with it as well and then this happened...

Pax goes into the ER for croupe (or however the hell you spell it. Yes, I said hell, it was a frustrating week). Dad manages to tread water and actually is secretly wishing the whole time that he got it so he could just climb into bed for three days... instead he's the ringleader of this whole circus.

So here we are, almost 13 days later. Some of us are still coughing (Mom, Mae), some of us are finally better (me) and some of us need a room with a straightjacket and rubber walls (Dad).

So that was the Birthday Week... interrupted.

Oh, and then we found an awesome app on Juliana's phone and this happened.

My Brotha, Part II

So couple more things about Pax being born before we move on. On Wednesday afternoon we finally got to go back and visit Mom and Pax, so we did.

I got to feed Pax, and Mabel got to feed Pax, which was really awesome.

Then, when Mom and Dad told us that Pax lets out these HUGE burps that we would love to hear, well, Mae got a little gun shy and was afraid they were going to hurt her ears.

And here she is about 7 minutes later, still on the nervous side of things.

She also had some other concerns, such as the "booger cord" as she calls it. Not sure how she got "booger cord" out of "umbilical cord" but this is Mae we're talking about here, guys, anything goes.

The next day Mom and Dad came home with Pax and I got to talk to him and play with his toes...

And then we got some good sibling photos with Dad that Stacey took (Mom was in bed, and rightfully so).

And then I got loose with the camera and started taking a slew of photos, such as this keeper of Alphapha, I mean, Paxton...

And I taught myself how to go vertical with the lens and I got this one as well. G'night Pax-man, don't let the bed bugs bite.

I also proceeded to take 132 (no exaggeration, Dad counted) portraits of my animals. A couple samples are below. I charge $112 for a sitting, and you're about to see why. I do all the lighting as well as the participant positioning (which some say I'm the best in the city at) and as part of the package you'll receive an entire set of 4x6's. Please contact my photo editor with any questions.

Paxton Oliver Skertich, My Brotha!

So the day finally came when Mom was to be induced and our little ?? welcomed into family. Mom and Dad woke up in the middle of the night and headed to the hospital. I was sleeping but from what I hear it was

tick...tock...

tick... tock...

And then, in the blink of an eye, he arrived! Paxton Oliver Skertich was born at 11:03am on May 11, 2013. He was equipped with a pretty sweet head of hair, just like Mabel and me, and that was that (more to come on his hair a little later). Here he is about 4 minutes after he was born.

About an hour later sisters got a chance to go see little Pax, so we headed upstairs to say hello.

After that we headed out to Nana's for a few days where there was a whole lot of this going on.

And then a couple days later we headed back to the hospital to meet Pax again.

Check out the view from his room, high class, that guy.

And just like another little person I know (hint: 3 years old, lives next door to me upstairs at our house), apparently this guy likes his thumb already. Kinda strange, I mean, this binky thing is amazing. I should know... 5 and a 1/2 years later and I'm still rockin the bink.

Oh, and when we came back by the hospital, I taught him a really good trick:

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Well, more to come from the day but I'll leave you with this beaut!
