First Snow 2011

Got our first snowfall on Friday night so yesterday morning after soccer practice we got after it right away.

First stop was snow angels. I rocked mine out and was pretty happy with the finished product.

Then we worked on Mae's snow angel which... needs a little work because she was so stuffed into her snowsuit that she couldn't move her arms well enough to get the angel's wings. The outcome was so bad we didn't even take a picture of the finished outcome.

After angels it was on to the main event - SNOWBALL FIGHT! First it was Mae and I vs. Dad...

Then Mae and Dad conspired and were making snowballs behind my back...

Til I displayed my ninja snowball fighting skills, snuck up from behind and...

BLAM! Got pops right on the noodle with one.

Mae could barely move but had the time of her life anyway.

Got inside and it was hot chocolate time.

Snow, Sledding, More Skertich's

Got our first snowfall of the year, and luckily Hannah and Luke stayed over so we got on all our gear and hit the big snow hill in Grant Park.

Here's Luke and me taking the saucer sled for a spin. Notice the photo is blurry... that's just pure speed right there.

Dad and his ducks.

Mae and Dad went down a bunch of times. Her face in this picture doesn't show it but she really liked it. Every time she got to the bottom she was yucking it up and wanting more.

Hannah and Luke.

And afterwards, we came in and Mom made some hot chocolate while Luke and I played Uno Moo. I told Luke, "Concentrate all you want, you're just not gonna beat me at this game."

Oh, one last thing - forgot about this pic when posting photos about Zoo Lights. 3-D glasses so that everywhere you turned you saw reindeer faces... and Dad called ahead to the glasses guy and told him my winter coat color this year because he knows how much I need things to always match (I do things like choose my plate or cereal bowl color every morning based on it matching my pajamas. Yeah, big on the matching thing).

Fin + Hannah = Chocolate

Well, my buddy, Hannah, came down and stayed with us this weekend. And on top of doing some sweet shopping we hit up her favorite restaurant on Saturday night, which is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant.

Here's Mom, Hannah and me outside of Hot Chocolate on Damen.
Some people opt for a nice beet salad with goat cheese for an appetizer, or maybe some calamari. Hannah and I went straight for the chocolate milk.
After some mac-n-cheese, we got into the good stuff... warmed brioche donuts and carmel corn dipped in chocolate. I think I'll take... that-a-one.
And then, without an ounce of remorse, I think I'll stuff my face with it.
Good times, Hannah, good times.

Let It Sled

So we got a lot of snow the other day and when Dad picked me up from school he had that Winter X-Games look in his eye, so we hit the slopes up in Grant Park.

First, though, it was time to get our snow gear on.

Then I boarded the sled.

Then we took a ride around the park to warm up.

We didn't take the camera to the slopes but you'll have to take my word for it - we went up high and we came down fast, even wiped out once and I got to taste some snow. And then, when we got home - Mom whipped us up some hot chocolate. Cheers, Dad, a sledding day well done - definitely gold medal worthy.
