When I Grow Up / Field Trip!

So ever since I was little (I know, but even littler) I've wanted to be a veterinarian. So about a year ago I was talking to my Nana about it and since she's had so many animals she's been a frequent visitor of her local Vet, so she said she would take me.

Well, she did, and it was amazing. I slept overnight and the next morning she and I went on our own little field trip (even skipped school for the morning).

Saw the computers, operating tables, looked into the microscope, the whole bit.

This cat was in because it wasn't feeling well so we worked on it together (well, I didn't really work on it but you know what I mean).

Saw this cat skeleton and told the previous cat he doesn't want to end up like this any time soon.

Learned about doggy heart worm and what you can do to make sure it doesn't happen to your dog. Then after that, we looked at the dog heart and learned about it as well.

Lastly, I took a seat in the Big Dog's chair in the Big Dog's office.

And even got to don the uni... hopefully some day I'll be wearing one that fits me perfectly.

And to put a ribbon on the morning Nana and I stopped and had a little pizza party.

The Three Amigos Hit the Shedd

So I had a field trip to the Shedd Aquarium and our chaperone was none other than dear old (but not that old) Dad. Each chaperone got three kids and the night before the trip I told Dad I really hoped we were paired up with Nadia (my best friend at school) and Michael (on whom Nadia and I do NOT have a crush).

Well lo and behold, look what the cat dragged in the next morning at 8:50.

So we headed out to the bus and off we went.

Things went better-than-planned at the Shedd when Dad made us "accidentally" get separated from the group and he finagled his way into a couple areas where we weren't yet supposed to be, so most of our trip was a private day at the Shedd, just the four of us.

We hit up Ice Age 4-D but had to pinky promise that we wouldn't tell anyone when we got back to the group. That's Michael (on whom I do NOT have a crush) in the front.

I felt the starfish which was totally weird but I'm glad after 2-3 years of wanting to that I finally got the nerve to do so.

And then our field trip was over. On the ride home someone got a little tuckered out and fell asleep and someone else thought that was pretty funny. And don't forget, that someone who fell asleep I do NOT have a crush on. Just sayin.

Life in the Big City

What have I been up to? Welllllll...

Went to my first football game - this one was a Nebraska/Northwestern showdown up in Evanston. The game was awesome. Well, maybe that's an overstatement - the game was fine, the gigantic bag of popcorn accompanied by a large cup of fresh-squeezed lemonade was awesome. Dad and I had a blast.

Been hanging at Nana's and playing some ball with Papa in the backyard.

I have a best friend at school. We went on a field trip and spent the entire day joined at the hip. Her name is Nadia.

As always, spending loads of quality time (and loads of not-so-quality time) with Mabel Jane, often in my Polar Bear hat if the weather permits.

And went to Dad's work the other night to pick something up. He asked me if I wanted to take the elevator or walk up the 170 stairs to his office. Two roads diverged in the woods and I... took the stairs. Mission accomplished.
