Who Needs Two?!!

So we're about to eat dinner tonight and all of a sudden dad gets the urge to see when his first Hawks game of the year is and, lo and behold, it's tonight!!

So down the hatch go the pork chops and carrots and with a quick snap of the camera with the rest of the members of the Dorky Blackhawks Hat Family Fan Club...

we're off. CTA app says the bus is still 20 minutes out so we hitch an Ubercab to the game.

After an ice cream cone and a basket of buttery popcorn, and two Hawks goals...

we call it a success. So the best part of the night is over, right? Not. Even. Close.

We run into Harold, who owns this treacherously radical rickshaw complete with a massive stereo system, flashing neon lights, 5 bells, two horns and a chicken that sirens like a police siren.

Harold proceeds to ride us through, hmmm, how shall I put this... the not-so-amazing parts of town...

blaring 70's classic rock

until he safely drops us at our home, but not before he does this outlandish 360-degree spin move in the middle of the intersection near our house with me in the back.

Thank you, Harold. A spaceship would not have been a cooler mode of transportation home. The kicker? We told him while standing back at the bus stop at the United Center we had no cash on us and he said he'd take us home anyway. So when they say there are no free rides in life, well, they haven't met my man Harold and his blinking chicken siren rickshaw.

Random Post #224

So there's been not a whole lot going on (still waiting for baby) and a lot going on, all at the same time. Here's some of what's been going down:

Weather has finally broken, which means every day is a park day.

I've become Mae's official storyteller.

Mae went to the doctor for a checkup.

We visited our neighborhood landscaping company to snag some vegetables to plant and they have a chicken (or I guess I hen) there named Buttercup (and another one but I can't remember her name). And not only did they give us a fresh egg that we could take home (and by fresh I mean Buttercup laid it and less than ten seconds later it was in my hand) but you're also allowed to hold and pet Buttercup.

Little did they know, until they obviously knew, I'm a professional chicken/hen holder. And by professional, I mean you can probably find me on CraigsList or something like that.

Finley's Music Festival

So there's this thing on the Mac computer called Garage Band and basically you can make your own songs by just picking instruments to play and then layering the tracks, etc.

Well, Dad was showing it to me the other night; he would play instrumental parts and I would pick the ones I wanted.

You should give this a listen - this is the track that I created and we call it Finley's Festival. We threw a couple photos over it so there was something to look at while you listened (but only a couple, seriously, just two).

The first photo is of me holding a chicken, which I thought went appropriately over the banjo music. Then the second photo is of me smiling really big and beautiful, which I thought went well over the big and beautiful piano solo.

Anyway, enjoy, this will probably not be the last time DJ Finish (that's my DJ name when I rock the 45s on Wednesday nights in Bucktown) mixes up some sweet melodies and gives you a listen.
