Dad's Days Off Part II - Nightwood

So Mom, Dad and I got all dressed up one night and went out to a nice restaurant for dinner. It's called Nightwood and it's in Pilsen at 21st and Halsted.
After dinner Dad asked me to squat down like White Sox Catcher AJ Pierszynski does so he could pretend he was Mark Buehrle throwing his perfect game. I mean, seriously, Dad, words cannot describe the idiocy of this, but I oblige because, well, because he's my Dad.
So there was this above-average looking 3-year old dude at Nightwood who looked like he had mad cash and he asked me for my number. He never called, but Mom said when I responded I had three bites of brocolli in my mouth along with a couple bites of half-roasted chicken and some gnochhi dumplings and I was reaching for my milk. She said it sounded something like our phone number is "beeg unn doo - biff doo fyor - ate fyor dee gine." And I'm wondering why he didn't call? This photo is 20 minutes after dinner and I STILL have food in my hands. Maybe he didn't understand my number... or maybe he saw our future and he didn't think I'd be able to fit through the front door. Whatevs, dude, I'm over you - you were three and still talked like a caveman.
Oh wait, there goes another cutie, and he looks like an athlete...
Okay, gotta run.

Dad's Days Off, Part 1

So Dad had last week off and we did a whole bunch of fun stuff. One day we went to this place called Morton's Arboretum. I'm not sure who Morton is... wait... hold on... Dad says it's probably Johnnie Morton, the old wide receiver for the Detroit Lions back about 10-15 years ago. Okay, I'll go with that.

Anyway, this wide receiver dude's Arboretum is unbelievable, here's a breakdown:

This is Dad and me walking over the rocks and through the pond.
Just chillin
Walking across this long bridge...
Found some colorful flowers
And a family of Beavers eating porridge, which was weird because I always thought the porridge thing was a family of bears, whatevs. They were nice, actually informed me that Dad's full of $^@% - this place has nothing to do with a 1990s below-average Detroit Lions wide receiver.
Then it was my favorite time - LUNCH TIME!
And a few laughs with Dad never hurt.
Stay tuned for Part II of Dad's Days Off...

Bedhead and Big People's Table

Okay, there's bedhead and then there's BEDHEAD. This would qualify as the latter.
Now that we've got that straightened out I wanted to let you all know that I have graduated to the Big People's Table at Sunday Dinner. Now there is actually a Big People's Table where Dad sits with the rest of the grownups but they also call the Little People's Table the Big People's Table because I'm out of the high chair so they all say, "Oh Finley, what a big girl - you're at the Big Girl's Table." And then to make it even more confusing Eli sits there so it's also the Big Boy's Table, but really it's the Little People's Table.

Whatever, I'm out of the high chair and I've got my own gig now, with Sophie to my left and Eli to my right. And that piece of asparagus on my forehead in this next shot? Don't worry about it, I'm savin it for later. Oh, one last thing, and this is very important, if you're ever eating dinner with Eli DO NOT touch his food. He seriously might murder you.

Super Hero or Super Nerd?... TBD

Claire Kent
Super Woman
Listen, if 22 years from now I graduate from (insert Ivy League college here) you'll remember back to this photo above and say to yourself, "Gosh, I always knew she was a nerd way deep down."

For It's 1, 2, 3 Strikes, I'm In

Got my first White Sox game under my belt and brought home a victory, so I'm officially 1-0 in my career as an attendee. Sat in the club level (Dad says we got the tickets because he washed Paul Konerko's car for him last week... whatever), ate about 47 peanuts, picked my nose (yeah, like you've never picked your nose before) and basically had a great time throughout the whole game.
When Big Bad Bobby Jenks came in to close it down I just knew it was over, but I really had to focus to will the team to victory. Shhh, I'm concentrating.
Afterwards, it was all jubilation (and some really really loud fireworks).

Lazy Sunday

So a couple Sundays ago we were just hangin out, I was sweepin up on the patio...
Just kickin it old school...
Then I zoned out for a while...
And then Mom came up with a great idea... "Let's go to the Lincoln Park Zoo!" and I went-a-runnin.
And when we got to the Zoo we saw a bunch of animals but what was really awesome was the Carousel. I'd never been on one of these before so I wasn't quite sure what to make of it... so I started out on the giraffe...
Lame. The giraffe doesn't go up and down so I hopped off and saddled up on the panda bear.
Yep, this'll do. I'm goin so fast you can't even focus!
Tried another photo, didn't ya, Pops? Too late, caught me on my way out.
Man, that Carousel was great. Like, I really loved it, like really REALLY loved it...

The Piano Fairy

I woke up the other day and went downstairs and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a baby grand piano in our living room.

So everybody knows about the Tooth Fairy, right? Well, I bet you never heard of the Piano Fairy. Dad says he went to bed and before he fell asleep he prayed that the Piano Fairy would come and deliver a baby grand piano to him... and she did... and she didn't even take any of his teeth as payment.

So what else would we do but hop up on that seat and play that funky music, white girl.
