Pumpkin Carving

So last night we carved our pumpkins, and man was it fun. First, we each drew on a pumpkin so that mom and dad could see what to carve.

I drew the face I wanted on mine...

And then Mabel drew the face she wanted on hers.

It was on to one last shot before the rubber hit the road (or in this case, the steak knives hit the pumpkins).

Turned out quite nice, if you ask me.
Not surprised though. back in 1986 I took first place in the Salt Lake City Pumpkin Carving Contest. Went on to take second place in Nationals and was asked to walk in the Portland Pumpkin Parade, which was a decent time, although Natatlie Flipjamitz, who took first place in nationals, was a bit overbearing with her "Bahstan" accent. Told her I was a Mets fan, which settled her down a bit... the sting from the Bill Buckner charade was only a couple weeks old and hadn't worn off yet.

ANYWAY, we hit the lights and took this beauty of Oakla (what I named my pumpkin) and Seep (what I named Mae's pumpkin).

Then we threw them on the porch for all the world to see... or at least the 312 people that would be walking their dogs in the Circle Park last night.
I'll hit you all up on Monday with a Trick or Treat update.
